I believe the best overall team is Makoto/Ryuji/Ann; Makoto can boost defense and heal the entire team (letting Ryuji and Ann focus on pure offense), Ryuji is the best physical attacker thanks to his attack buffs while Ann is the best special attacker thanks to her magic buffs.In a 3 hour palace, fun is needed, but I don't enjoy any aspect of Okumuras palace, even the music is my least favourite of the palaces.
