Ariel was born at the National Aquarium in Baltimore on June 24, 1990, and moved to Shedd Aquarium in 1991. In 2005, she moved to The Maritime Aquarium with Rasal, who can still be seen in Pinniped Cove, and Orange, who passed away in 2018. She was known for her sweet personality and was beloved by her trainers, staff, volunteers and visitors.
